Emily Heller is a stand-up comedian and writer based out of Los Angeles. You may have seen her on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Conan and more.
Recently, Emily reported shopping on Amazon for the doormat pictured here. Seems mundane enough, right?
However, when the product arrived, she didn't get a doormat. She got this. Look closely.
Instead of the doormat in the picture, she got THE ACTUAL PICTURE. That's right, it's a piece of foam with a picture of the doormat attached to it.
Naturally, Emily took her story to Twitter, causing it to spread across the internet.
Next, Emily reported that she wrote to the seller to request a refund. Instead, they tried to blame the ordeal on "a screen's display problem" and offered just a partial refund...for a photograph...attached to a piece of foam.
Emily held out for a full refund, and got it. But the story doesn't end here.
Since her doormat ordeal had become so well-known, Emily did the only sensible thing. At a stand-up show at the UCB Theatre in Los Angeles, she gave away the fake doormat to one lucky fan.
Eventually, the company who makes the doormat she tried to order in the first place got in touch with her. They gave her some doormats and showed that they have a sense of humor as well.
Of course, Emily Heller has more to offer than just a story about a doormat. For more of work, check her out on Twitter and Tumblr.
