It's once again the most wonderful time of the year. A time of gift-giving, awkward office parties, and the occasional act of kindness.
A woman from Washington used her holiday lighting to send a message of pride. A display that could not be overlooked.
Lexi Magnusson — a wife and mother of four from Washington state — was inspired to create a gay-pride, Christmas-light display after speaking to her new neighbor. Her neighbor had made numerous homophobic remarks.
She stated that her kids were too exposed to the "gays and transgenders" in Oregon. She also said she was "sick of people making it okay."
This display has no lack of color and it is made up of 10,000 light bulbs. There is no mistaking where Magnusson and her family stands on acceptance of the LGBT community.
Magnusson explained, "Since regular aggression leads to assault charges, I went with passive aggression. 10,000 lights later." We can get behind the idea of being petty for a cause.
So there was no mistaking the statement she was trying to make. Let that gay pride flag FLY.
In addition, the photo of her pride display has also received over 1,800 shares so far. It seems that her neighbor may be the only one not appreciating her representation of holiday cheer.
"I'm going to order that rainbow flag for us to hang on my side of the house that faces hers," another neighbor stated on Magnusson's Facebook picture. NEIGHBORHOOD TROLLING LEVEL: 1,000.
She even makes sure to wave at her homophobic neighbor "more and more exaggerated [sic] each time" when she sees her in passing. Now that's what I call pride.
