The Sav-Mor liquor store in Somerville, Massachusetts is well known for its funny and sarcastic signs.
Sav-Mor co-owner Robert Weiner has been putting up the silly signs for more than five years, but in early May he set his sights on challenging the McDonald's restaurant across the street to a battle of wits.
It started when McDonald's offered a deal on Egg McMuffins: Two for just five dollars, which isn't too bad considering a single Egg McMuffin goes for $2.79.
Sav-Mor clapped back with an Egg McMuffin deal of their own, challenging McDonald's to top them.
McDonald's responded in kind, proving that Sav-Mor isn't the only business capable of witty banter.
You come at the clown, you best not miss.
McDonald's came back with a stinger, letting Sav-Mor know that they're too busy doing work to be fooling around.
Sav-Mor, smitten by McDonald's playfulness, let its feelings be known, and, in doing so, gave McDonald's the upper hand.
Sav-Mor tapped out of the sign battle, handing McDonald's the victory, but not before getting in one more dig at its fast food foil.
It was fun while it lasted, and the battle even made a sister Save-Mor a little jealous.
