Ahhh...summer. Just that word alone evokes images of lazy days, warm nights, plenty of swimming, even lounging in the shade on a hammock. Did we miss anything?
Umm...yeah...summer food.
Whether it be watermelon, popsicles, hot dogs, or lemonade, there's just something about certain foods that just scream, "SUMMERTIME!" That being said, even when it comes to summer foods, some of us may have some interesting opinions. In fact, some of these summer food opinions can be so hot (see what we did there?) that you may just wipe your sweaty brow and say, "Uh...what?!"
RTA Outdoor Living, the leader in custom prefabricated outdoor kitchens and cooking appliances, recently released the results of a new study that reveal what Americans really feel about BBQing, cookouts, and their favorite foods on the grill. Take a look at the list below to see if you agree with your fellow Americans or are they just all kinds of cray cray!

57% of respondents say hot dogs are sandwiches, with 60% of men in the group thinking so, and 52% of women agreeing.
Sure, technically that's true, but have you ever been to a summer cookout, the host asks, "What can I get you?" and you say, "I'll have a hot dog sandwich"?
Yeah...us neither.

Thankfully, 56.7% of respondents say grilling is the best method to prepare a hot dog.
(Cause it is).
27% of those ages 18-23 feel that boiling is the best method.
(Really?)
And 12.6% think microwaving a hot dog is the best way.
(Whaaaaa????)

A melty, gooey cheeseburger right off the grill is a summertime classic. It's the epitome of perfection, right? Well, not if you're 15% of respondents who feel the cheese should go UNDER the burger!
What are we doing, people????

When your summer cookout grilling expert ask you, "How ya want your burger done?", what do you say? "Make it bloody" or "burnt to a crisp"? Well, the best level of “doneness” for a burger appears to be medium, with 40% of respondents agreeing.
(Please, for all that is sacred in the world, don't say "burnt to a crisp" to your summer cookout grilling expert...EVER.)

When it comes to gnawing on some chicken wings this summer, do you go for the drumstick or the flat? Are you "drum head" or a "flat head"? Well, drumsticks are the winner with two out of three respondents preferring them.
Honestly, there are no losers here. When it comes to eating wings, we're all winners.

Still, despite all that drumstick love, boneless wings are actually more popular than bone-in wings. 63.4% of respondents chose boneless over bone-in wings.
Proof that humans are just plain confusing.

There's nothing like walking into a summer cookout, glancing over at the picnic table, and spotting a giant plate full of brownies. But the question is, which type of brownie will you go for? The edge or the center? Well, if you're like most Americans, you're grabbing the edge. Three out of four prefer the crispiness of edge brownies while one in four want the gooiness of the center brownies.
If you can't decide, here's a life hack: Grab an edge, grab a center, smash them together as one brownie, and go to town. You're an adult; you can do whatever the hell you want.

And finally, though it really has nothing to do with summer, we just had to add this little tidbit:
According to the RTA Outdoor Living survey, a whopping 18% of Americans eat pizza with a fork and knife.
18%.
Fork.
Knife.
Who are these people????
