Well, in an interview on Oprah: Where Are They Now?, Kevin Jonas explained what led to the difficult decision ”” it was the Brothers' hiatus in 2010 and 2011 that ultimately led them to go their separate ways. ”³We took a break right before we came back together for that last album,”³ said Kevin, ”³and we all had become individuals in that moment.”³
Kevin said the time apart allowed them to focus more on individual projects. ”³Nick did a solo thing, I took a year to just do what I wanted to do here in New Jersey, get life set up...Joe was also doing TV, doing movies.”³ He added, ”³We came back as a band and we realized very quickly that we were different people than we were before.”³
”³I don't know if we had a specific thing that we were all looking to become,”³ said Kevin. ”³I think that we just needed the time and the space to explore options without having it [affect] the other people.”³
In addition, Nick Jonas told Watch What Happens Live that he initiated the conversation about breaking up the band. "It was a very tough conversation and it left the family kind of shaken up for a little while,”³ said Nick.
However, three years after the breakup, Nick says the family is fine now. ”³It's good for everybody and it's good that it happened because I think we all grew from it, but it was very challenging for a little while.”³
