Tacos Are Life

Is there anything better than eating tacos? Actually, yes there is; eating lots and LOTS of tacos.

It's okay if your love of tacos borders on the obsessive. Trust us...we feel you. We meant it when we said, "Tacos are life." Frankly, we don't want to live in a world that doesn't have them.

Speaking of living, everyone thinks where they live has the best tacos around. But, civic pride aside, which cities in the U.S. really, truly have the stuff to satisfy your taco cravings? Well, the folks at Rent.com went ahead and compiled a list of the cities that have the best taco joints in all of the land. Cities were ranked based on a weighted scoring system using three categories: Mexican restaurants per square mile, Mexican restaurants per capita, and as a proportion of all restaurants within the city. Only cities with a land mass greater than one square mile and a population of more than 100,000 people were considered.

Here are the top ten. If you're mad that your city didn't make the cut, might we suggest a taco or two (or four) to ease the pain?

Starting us off is a town in Southern Oregon, a region more known for wine but may soon be known for tacos.

Wait...tacos AND wine? We really can have it all.

You would think that a city from a region known more for lobster rolls and chowda wouldn't know a thing about tacos. You could think that, but you you'd be wrong because Somerville, Mass is at our #9 spot.

Tucson and tacos go together like...uh...Tucson and tacos, we guess. The city name-dropped by the Beatles enters the list at number eight.

#7 - Passaic, New Jersey

The cliche of Jersey being a place for Italian food is just that — a cliche. Cause they also got some pretty damn good tacos, as proof of Passaic, New Jersey coming in hot at number seven.

Wanna get a real "Rocky Mountain High"? Then head out to Commerce City for some serious taco eating. A suburb located just outside of Denver, it rounds out the bottom part of the top ten list, coming in at six.

If you love apples, you go to the great state of Washington. And if you love tacos, you go to...Yakima, Washington? Yup. that's right; a city located in Central Washington made it to the top five of the best cities for tacos.

How ya like them apples?

When you think of Chicago (and its surrounding burbs) you probably think of hot dogs and pizza. But Cicero, just a little under nine miles away from the Windy City, has tacos that are so good that they not only land at the number four spot, but they even beat out their big sister city of Chicago!

That's right, Chicago...you've been served.

#3 - Miami, Florida

The biggest city on the list, Miami salsas its way into the number three slot, proving what Will Smith says about South Beach: "This the type of town I could spend a few days in/Miami the city that keeps the roof blazin'."

Sunshine, beaches, and now tacos. Sigh...is there anything Miami CAN'T do?

#2 - Mission, Texas

You'd think that a city just north of the Mexico border at the southern tip of Texas would have some siiiiiick tacos. And you know what? You'd be right! Mission, Texas lands just one spot short of being the number one taco city in the U.S.

So what city is number one? Where's the place to go for the best tacos in the nation? Well...

#1 - Huntington Park, California

Of course the number one city for tacos would be in The Golden State. how could they not be? Surprisingly, though, it wasn't Los Angeles or San Diego that landed in the number one spot. It's Huntington Park — a small city just six miles south of LA.  Who knew?

Wanna discover even more cities that have the best tacos around? Then check out the rest of the list at Rent.com. And if you are now craving tacos after reading this, our apologies.
