Everyone wants their skin to be flawless. Nobody likes having lumps and bumps, blemishes or any aging signs. We’re talking about moles, warts, blackheads, skin tags and age spots. Now, you could go to the doctor to treat these skin conditions, or you could go for a more homeopathic approach. We’re here to discuss the latter.
For things like warts, moles, skin tags and age spots, dermatologists have a few different medical procedures they can use. They can physically remove them through surgery. They can freeze them off via cryotherapy. Finally, they can use laser treatments to burn them off.
Let’s start with warts. Warts are non-cancerous skin growths that are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). Warts are contagious, so you should keep a bandage over the wart and not have it come in contact with anyone else until it is gone.
Now, there are different strains of HPV, one form of HPV is a sexually transmitted disease and can cause genital warts. It’s better to seek medical attention for that strain of the virus and not try to treat it yourself. If the wart is on your hand or feet, you can try a natural remedy.
Garlic is great natural medicine. Garlic has been used for thousands of years to treat ailments because of its natural antibacterial and antifungal properties. It can be used to treat everything from yeast infections to a common cold. Garlic can also be used to treat warts. Just crush a clove of garlic and place it on the wart. Then bandage everything up. Keep the bandage on for 30 minutes and then wash the area with water. Repeat this process twice a day until the wart falls off.
Another remedy for wart removal is vitamin C. You can crush a few vitamin C pills with a half a tablespoon of water. Then apply the paste onto the wart. Then bandage it up and rinse it off after 30 minutes.
Moles can be natural or they can arise from excess sun exposure. If a mole is bothering you, you should see a dermatologist before you try to remove it yourself. Moles can potentially be cancerous, so it’s better that you get them checked out first.
If the mole is benign, and you just want it gone there are a couple of natural remedies you can try. The first remedy you can try is castor oil and baking soda. Mix a pinch of baking soda with a few drops of castor oil. Put this mixture on the mole and keep it on for a few hours. Repeat this process twice a day for a month.
If you just want to lighten the mole, you can use some pineapple juice. Soak a cotton ball in pineapple just and tape it to the mole with a bandage. You can do this twice a day for a month. To make it a bit more effective, you can mix the pineapple juice with some sea salt.
Blackheads are super annoying and can be unsightly. They are caused by a buildup of oil, dirt and dead skin cells. There are a bunch of skincare products and peels you can use to remove them, but if you’re looking for a more natural solution, we’ve got you covered.
Cinnamon has anti-bacterial properties that will help clear out your pores. You can combine cinnamon powder with honey and put that paste on your T-zone, or wherever you have your blackheads. Leave that mixture on for 15 minutes and rinse. You can also combine a teaspoon of cinnamon with a teaspoon of lemon juice if you want a more astringent cleaning.
Oatmeal acts as a wonderful exfoliant. It also is rich in antioxidants. You can prepare a bowl of oatmeal and mix it with a teaspoon of honey and tomato juice. Cover your blackheads with the paste and let it sit for 15 minutes.
Skin tags are harmless bits of excess skin. But, they can be flesh-toned or a bit darker. They’re usually found around the crotch area, neck, face, breasts and eyes. They can be unattractive and uncomfortable, so understandably people want them gone.
Apple cider is a great multi-purpose natural product. It’s great for drinking in the morning for a quick cleanse, and it’s also great for your skin. It’s got both anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Just soak a cotton ball in apple cider vinegar and then tape it to your skin tag for a few hours. Repeat this three times a day for a few weeks.
You can also use tea tree oil. Just rub the skin tags with the oil and wait a few hours before washing it off. Do this three times a day.
Age spots are an unfortunate reality of getting older. You could also get them earlier than you think if you expose your skin to the sun a lot. Dermatologists would typically remove age spots with laser treatments, but there are a couple natural ways you can lighten the spots.
Lemon juice has natural bleaching properties and it exfoliates the skin. Just soak a Q-tip in some lemon juice and dab the age spots two times a day. Leave the juice to dry on the face for about 30 minutes, or you can even leave it overnight. Just avoid sun exposure while the lemon juice is on your face.
