The accessory consists of a small, triangular clip. The clip catches on to the beard hair, holding it within a spiral structure, which allows for a comfortable wear...if you're into that kind of thing.
The jewelry works best with hair that's about an inch long, which means that you'll have to let your stud grow his beard in order to wear these studs. However, it has been tested on beards of various shapes and sizes and was found to work on all of them. Phew!
Believe it or not, there was actual inspiration for the idea.
"When I moved to Milan from Toronto a few years ago, I was surprised with [a] number of Italian men who grew beards...I've discovered that a beard is a true symbol of men’s character, and a perfect canvas for self-expression. [The] Idea of the Beard Jewelry was born as an inspiration to take men’s individuality to the next level of uniqueness [sic]," says the designer on her Kickstarter site.
The Kickstarter says that orders should ship mid-December, just in time for Christmas. Which means that with one gift a person can simultaneously become the best girlfriend ever and the worst human being on the planet.
The Kickstarter has already beat its goal, meaning that a future civilization in which men openly rock tiny little decorations in their full beards is now inevitable. Just think about what this means...
