The Black Dahlia is one of the most infamous and creepy unsolved mysteries that plagues Hollywood to this day. On January 15th, 1947 the badly mutilated body of 22-year-old Elizabeth Short was found discarded on the side of the road in Los Angeles. Short was an aspiring actress and due to the gruesome nature of the crime, public interest has always surrounded this strange murder. It's hard to not think the world is a fiery ball of horse crap when monsters who did something like this are still roaming free. On July 25th, 1957 a passerby found a box on the side of theSusquehanna Road in Philadelphia. Inside that box lay a deceased 30-pound little boy. After an exhaustive search, not only could detectives not find a killer, but they also could not find his parents or his identity. His grave, paid for by the detectives on the case, somberly reads, "Heavenly Father, Bless this Unknown Boy." So sad.
This may be one of the most head-scratching cases I've heard of in a while. On Christmas Eve night in 1945 the Sodder family home went up in flames with George and Jennie Sodder and nine of their children inside. George, Jennie and four of their children were able to escape the blaze. While George put up an exhaustive display to get in and save the rest of his children, all of his efforts were met with unexplainable obstacles. Sadly, none of the other five children made it out of the house, but, in a strange turn of events, none of their remains have ever been found ”” not even a charred bone.
The unsolved "Keddie murders," that took place in the small town of Keddie, California will make you think twice before booking your next forest cabin vacation. When 14-year-old Sheila Sharp returned to her family's cabin from spending the night at a friend's nearby, she stumbled upon a grizzly scene. She found her brother, her brother's girlfriend and Sheila's mother bludgeoned to death inside. As if that wasn't enough, her 12-year-old sister Tina was missing. Three years later, Tina's skull was found 60 miles from the cabin, however the killers have never be apprehended.
When police officers in Houston, Texas responded to a well-being check at the home of Fred and Edwina Rogers, they didn't notice anything amiss. It wasn't until they opened the refrigerator that they found the butchered remains of the Rogers. The immediate suspect was the Rogers' reclusive son, Charles Fredrick Rogers, a Navy veteran who apparently had a break with reality some years before. Some theories suggest that Charles was a hit man for the CIA and even was responsible for the murder of JFK. Either way, Charles hasn't never been seen since before the crime.
The East Area Rapist or Original Night Stalker is a man that has never been caught for the rape of up to 50 women and the murder of 10 others in California between 1979 and 1986. He would stalk his victims and often befriend their animals so they wouldn't bark or cause trouble when he broke into their homes. In a move straight out of a psych ward, he would phone his victims after the attacks and taunt them for years.
On the evening of May 3rd, 2007, Kate and Gerry McCann put their daughter Madeleine and her twin siblings to bed before heading off to a tapas bar 160 feet away from their vacation home. Although Gerry checked on his children many times throughout the night, a few hours later they reported that Madeleine had gone missing. Although there was an exhausted investigation launched, no suspect has ever been charged.
An unidentified body male was found washed up on the shores of Adelaide, South Australia. What was strange about the whole scenario is not only that a mysterious unknown poison was found in his body, but he also had a note in his pocket which read tamán shud, which translates to "ended" in Persian. Creepy town population 1!
