An 18-year-old from California has recently been named the best yo-yo-er on the planet, after taking top honors at the World Yo-Yo Championship in Prague earlier this month. Many people are surprised to learn that there's a competitive circuit dedicated to the mastery of, what most consider, a children's toy--but after watching this video of the routine, which helped Gentry Stein become this year's yo-yo world champion, there's no way anyone would dare to question the legitimacy of this unique sport.
Becoming a world-class yo-yo-er take serious dexterity, focus and years of practice--you certainly won't be able to learn moves like Gentry's over night! But not only is yo-yoing a very real competitive skill, it's also a captivating spectator sport! With all the attention Gentry is getting, it's only a matter of time before yo-yo competitions make their way from YouTube to ESPN!
