Jeremy Wade, the host of Animal Planet's River Monsters, has seen some scary stuff in his time. But he wasn't prepared for what he would encounter on one remote island shoot off the coast of Australia.
"This is a scorched and arid place," Wade says in the episode's reel. "The average daily temperature at this time of year is 110." He was there to come face-to-face with a Queensland grouper, but he got much more than he bargained for.
As soon as the fisherman, whose name is Tremine, was safely on board, he was yelling out, "Give me something to drink. Give me something to drink." Stephen Shearman, the director of the episode and part of the crew that rescued Tremine, told Inside Edition that he was an experienced fisherman who hadn't anticipated the conditions on the day he went out. He had spent a night on the beach and was already suffering from sunstroke.
After making sure that Tremine was hydrated, he was taken to receive medical attention. Shearman told Inside Edition, "Once he got rehydrated, his strength gained straight back. His recovery was quick." Thank goodness for that.
