Chris and Mariesa are a couple who totally love dogs. They share their life with many rescue dogs, and foster dogs for rescue. According to this video, when Chris and Mariesa Hughes met a pregnant pit bull, they knew they had to do something.
Storie is a pit bull who arrived pregnant at the Cuyahoga County Kennel. She looked ready to give birth at any moment, but somehow held off. Chris and Mariesa agreed to foster Storie so that she would have a safe place to give birth.
Truth is, shelters aren't relaxing place for pets to be. There's lots of activity and many other animals, making the environment a chaotic one. It's not ideal for a dog to give birth in a shelter, and Chris and Mariesa were able to provide a more quiet home environment for Storie instead.
Chris and Mariesa, who run a dog rescue called The Mr. Moe Project in Clifton Park, New York, knew that Storie would have multiple puppies, but an X-ray provided quite the surprise. Storie was pregnant with a huge litter of 12 puppies.
5. Perfect Timing
It seems like Storie was almost waiting for someone to bring her home before having her puppies. This video chronicles how, after being in her new home for less than 24 hours, Storie gave birth to her puppies. They're all doing well, as you can see.
Unfortunately, many puppies and dogs face a bleaker future. According to Pit Bull Rescue Central, more dogs and cats are born than humans every hour in the United States. This is one of the reasons why it's so important to spay and neuter our pets.
Shelters often take in unwanted pit bulls, but it can be particularly difficult to find new homes for these dogs. According to Pit Bull Rescue Central, pit bulls have faced prejudice for more than 20 years. Media publicity about poorly behaved pit bulls has fed the public's fear of the breed.
But pit bulls are actually great dogs. Trained properly, pit bulls can be great with children when they're properly supervised. Pit bulls aren't aggressive by nature, and with good training they can make awesome dogs.
