After being brought along on a week-long camping trip, Ollie came home extremely lethargic. He could barely walk and would only eat if fed by hand. Noticing how much Ollie was suffering, owners Al and Joelle Meteney took him to the vet. He was given a full range of tests, but they couldn't find what was causing his illness.
It turned out to be a tick, and Ollie was suffering from tick paralysis. It's extremely rare; in fact, Dr. Adam Stone said only one other doctor at DoveLewis had ever encountered tick paralysis before.
According to the DoveLewis website, "This condition occurs when the saliva secreted by the tick gets into the dog's system over a prolonged period of time. It affects the dog's neurological system and can cause paralysis." Will removing the tick be the cure?
