Looking for a place to live? This old church building has a double-studio flat up for grabs. Its architecture is gorgeous, and how many people do you know who can say they've lived in an old church?
It’s located in Witton, just north of Birmingham in the UK. It's a great, quiet location to live that's a stone's throw from a bustling big city!
It’s affordable, at just over $600 USD per month. That’s a bargain in a lot of places! A typical studio apartment in Birmingham can cost well above that, not including utilities.
And it comes fully furnished, with its own in-unit bathroom, kitchenette and even its own bedding. Not to mention it’s pretty darn adorable...
Wow, this place is almost starting to seem too good to be true! After no deposit, what's next? Free daily foot massages when you walk through the front door?
The church building is right next to the largest cemetery in Birmingham! The cemetery spans over 103 acres and was established in 1863 by the Bishop of Worcester.
The cemetery is full to capacity as of 2013. Before being declared full, there were around 20 burials there every day.
Imagine walking right through a cemetery to get home every day! You might start seeing ghosts out of the corner of your eye...
You can never get away from the gravestones! Every time you look out your window, they're right there...
Fun (or just creepy?) fact: John Cadbury, founder of the chocolate company of the same name, was buried in Witton Cemetery in 1889.
The church is the last remaining out of three original churches located on the cemetery grounds. There were fears not long ago that it would be closed down due to a lack of use, but some of its rooms were instead converted into apartment units.
Who knows, maybe the pros would outweigh the cons: you’d get to live in a beautiful, old gothic building in a great location at an affordable price, and you’d always have an interesting story to tell!
So, what do you think? Would you move in here? If one thing’s for certain, you’d always have quiet neighbors!
