In August 2016, Instagram unveiled a new feature, called Instagram Stories. It was, rather shamelessly, Instagram's attempt to make their own version of Snapchat Stories. But nevertheless, it became very popular.
In fact, its popularity soon surpassed that of Snapchat Stories. And to celebrate its one-year anniversary, they released a list of the people with the most-viewed Instagram stories. So who tops the list?
You might think it would be a member of the Kardashian/Jenner family. After all, Kim/Kendall/etc. are all very popular on Instagram. But when it comes to stories, the number one person might surprise you.
Coming in second place is the man who goes by the names The Fat Jew and The Fat Jewish. He's been accused multiple times of stealing jokes which he then uses on memes he posts on Instagram. However, that didn't stop him from being second on this list.
The person with the fourth-most-viewed Instagram Stories is Emily Ratajkowski. The model and actress has appeared in Vogue and Sports Illustrated. However, she might be best known for appearing in the video for Robin Thicke's hit "Blurred Lines."
Chiara Ferragni is a fashion designer and influencer. She gained prominence through the launch of her fashion blog The Blonde Salad. It's successful enough for her to be number six on the list of most viewed Instagram Stories.
Model Bella Hadid is number seven on the list. She has said that she doesn't often smile in pictures because "I feel uncomfortable, sometimes, smiling in front of the camera." She added, "It actually took me until probably this year to really understand my face.”
Shay Mitchell comes in on the list at number eight. The Canadian actress is probably best known for starring on the series Pretty Little Liars. She also appeared in the Nick Jonas video for "Under You."
Rounding out the list of most popular people on Instagram Stories are Lucy Hale (pictured), Amanda Cerny, Hailey Baldwin, Ashley Benson, and Meek Mill at spots 11-15. There's not a single Kardashian or Jenner anywhere to be found.
But we get the feeling they're going to be just fine anyway.
