Not to take anything away from McGregor, but most feel Mayweather is the smart bet in this fight. It's his sport, after all. He's mastered everything in boxing, even down to making an awesome entrance.
This is a big fight for Mayweather, and not just because of the high profile. He is currently 49-0 in his professional career. What better way to top off perhaps the greatest career in the history of the sport then making it an even 50 wins without a single blemish?
McGregor is out of his element. But you wouldn't know it by the way he's acting. This is nothing new for "Notorious Mac." He's infamously cocky, and with good cause. He more often than not backs up his claims.
He's younger, stronger, has more reach and hits harder. There's obviously more to boxing than those elements, however. But Conor thinks he has this fight in the bag. He's predicting exactly when and how he'll win.
So is he telling everyone to make this bet out of a sense of altruism? He has expressed interest in the past about "feeding you bums." But there's one thing you should keep in mind before placing a similar bet...
€1 million is a lot of money... to us. To Conor McGregor, that's absolutely nothing. Especially when you consider what he's making for the fight. And that's nothing compared to what Mayweather will earn.
So will Conor McGregor pull off one of the greatest upsets in boxing history? Or will Floyd "Money" Mayweather pull ahead to a perfect 50-0 record? Either way, this match is going to be nuts, and make a ton of money, bets or otherwise.
