Well, the tweet went viral. They got over 180,000 likes and were retweeted almost 55,000 times! Geoffrey also got a whole bunch of followers on Instagram. He’s got over 31,000 followers now (more than most aspiring Instagram models). Even Lauren was surprised about how much attention her tweet got. “What is happening hahahaha,” she tweeted. “Thought it might get a strong 35 but didn’t expect this.”
All the attention Geoffrey is getting is well deserved. He posts adorable pictures of his wife of 65-years, Pauline, and captions them with the sweetest words, like this, “Pauline is as stunning today as she was at sixteen.”
Honestly, I’m surprised an 86-year-old man would even know how to use Instagram (mine doesn’t even know what it is), but he is really dedicated to it and has over 527 posts. A lot of them are about Pauline.
But, really, I can’t get over these captions. They are just so adorable. You can tell he really loves Pauline. “Day-out to Stratford on Avon with Pauline, wife and sweetheart for the last 65 years,” he captioned this photo. Doesn’t that just make your heart melt?
Geoffrey posted a photo of him and Pauline at their wedding over 65 years ago. “65 years ago today at Bagworth church, and still going strong,” Geoffrey wrote. He also paired the caption with that emoji were the face has hearts for eyes. So effing cute.
"We were married in 1951 when I was a soldier, I left for overseas duty shortly afterwards and returned some 18 months later to write my book to tell the story of our love during this long separation," he told Metro.
Pauline is a pretty amazing lady. Everyone can see why Geoffrey is obsessed with her. Here she is getting ready to go out on the town. “Pauline ready for a night out with the ladies yes of course she has made her clothes <3 <3,” Geoffrey wrote.
Oh, and he posts videos of them together. There are a bunch of super cute videos on his Instagram. There is one of Pauline admiring her garden, and another of her (really impressive) arts and crafts projects. In this one, they are sitting on a bench about to feed some ducks.
Geoffrey also has a bunch of posts about his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. These are actually his great-grandchildren. He’s got 11 great-grandchildren! Don’t we all wish we could live that long to see our great-grandchildren? It looks like Geoffrey and Pauline have got a really nice family.
Naturally, the internet has fallen in love with Geoffrey and Pauline. I don’t think I’ve seen the hashtag #relationshipgoals so much on one person’s social media account. And they are absolutely relationship goals. We should all aspire to be like Geoffrey and Pauline.
Metro had a brief interview with Geoffrey about his new found fame. Geoffrey told the publication that he initially got on Instagram so he could keep an eye out for posts about his great-grandchildren. He said it was a “great way of keeping in touch” with his family. But then he started posting a lot of photos about Pauline.
"I always include pictures of Pauline especially doing her craft work – she gained an A level for arts and crafts in the 6th form at King Edward 7th when she was 70 years old," he said.
Geoffrey hadn’t realized that Lauren had shared his photos on Twitter and that he was going viral.
“We went to our granddaughters for lunch when I noticed unusual activity. I didn’t think much of it until my granddaughter and a friend messaged me today,” he told Metro. “I don’t know much about internet sensations, all will blow over in a couple of days.”
You can rest assured that Geoffrey will keep posting more pictures of his beautiful relationship with Pauline. In the meantime, you could even buy the book he wrote about his love story with Pauline here. Thanks Geoffrey for making the world a sweeter place. We love you two!
