Before the pressure to settle down and focus on your career really sets in— and the reality of paying those student loans — many millennials are choosing to pack their bags. Becoming a nomad, hopping from island to island, doesn't sound so shabby.
Traveling abroad and alone can mean less stress and more flexibility. No friends, family, or significant others to tie you down or alter your itinerary. One young woman learned this for herself, the hard way.
Nineteen-year-old Woodward has spent the entire past year on the move after getting a job aboard a yacht. She has traveled to a total of 12 countries, mostly in the Caribbean. She doesn't plan on staying still anytime soon, despite recent events that caused waves in her personal life.
This Rhode Island woman had been traveling with her boyfriend over the past year, who also happened to be her boss on the yacht. He fired her recently, and it caught her a bit off guard. "The breakup was rough because he was my travel partner for a year, we were together literally 24/7, and then he just fired me out of nowhere," Woodward stated.
Her social media is filled with pictures of amazing backdrops and beautiful places, but there was one problem. Her ex-travel partner/boss/boyfriend was in most of them since they did all of their travels together. The nineteen year old didn't want to delete her memories, so she did something even better.
"I wanted to post a throwback picture from one of the trips but the best ones are with him in it," she said. Woodward thought that copying and pasting someone else's face onto her pictures was the best solution, and Efron seemed like the best choice.
"I couldn't crop him out and blurring him would be ugly, so I was like, 'I'll just put someone else's face on it.' And when you think 'hot young guy,' you think Zac Efron," Woodward stated. Her cleverly crafted photos have certainly gotten the young traveler some attention.
Woodward hopes she can "look back at pictures and laugh at this whole situation." Although it may seem like a super petty move, the young woman explains there are no hard feelings between her and the ex.
Her newly Photoshopped pictures are not aimed at getting back at her ex-boyfriend, and she claims that she knows he doesn't care either way. "It was just so I could still post cute pictures and people not think we're back together," she stated.
Many people on the internet were impressed with how positive she is dealing with the breakup. "You are so much stronger than I would have been after a breakup. This is adorable. I love how you celebrate your life. Keep exploring girl," one person exclaimed.
"You go girl! Do you! You and Zac make an adorable couple, but don't let his crazy work schedule stop you from seeing the world," another internet-goer stated. All joking aside, Zac Efron does look kind of natural in this girl's pictures. You never know.
We all know breakups are hard, but Baylee Woodward definitely took the right approach to dealing with the entire ordeal. Having a laugh — or even laughing at yourself — is key when you are fresh out of a relationship.
