I hope you’re ready for some major soap opera drama right now, because this story has it all. This story has young (very young) love, scandals, betrayal and major shock value. It’s the story of a 13-year-old boy who discovered he was a father, and fair warning — it might make you feel just a little uncomfortable.
In 2009, 13-year-old Alfie Patten became a dad. His daughter, Maisie Roxanne, was born weighing 7 pounds 3 ounces.
“It was a crazy time,” Alfie said. “Holding Maisie for the first time was amazing. I was too young to understand the consequences of being a dad but I liked holding her and immediately loved her.”
So Nicola pushed for a paternity test. She had a feeling that Maisie couldn’t be her son’s child, and two other boys in the neighborhood had already come forward and claimed that they could potentially be the father. She knew something didn’t feel right about the situation, and she wanted to get to the bottom of it.
“She asked me out a couple of times but I kept turning her down,” Tyler explained. “It was routine for boys to stay over with her in her bed. But I only slept with her the once.” And, as we all know, just once is enough to get a girl pregnant. And that's how Tyler to become a father at the age of 14.
While Tyler was forced to grow up overnight and assume the role of a father, Alfie was reeling from the fact that he wasn’t the father. After all, he thought he and Chantelle were monogamous. He had even gone to her doctor’s appointments with her and kept the pregnancy secret until she was ready to tell her parents.
As for baby Maisie, she is under the care of Chantelle and her mother, Penny Stedman. Maisie is now 8 years old, just 4 years younger than Alfie when he lost his virginity to Chantelle. Hopefully, Maisie will learn from her parents' mistakes and use protection when she becomes sexually active.
