You remember the ice cream song from childhood, don't you? "I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream." It's one of the most inclusive songs ever written, inviting everyone, no matter what race, creed, or gender, to join together and scream for the most delicious of desserts. Well, some people don't want to scream for ice cream. Some people would rather scream at people who are eating ice cream.
Two Muslim-American Women, Malaak Ammari and Nura, were enjoying a treat at Andrew's Ice Cream in Orange, California, when a fellow customer accosted them solely for being Muslim.
3. 'Too Bad, We're Here'
Ammari recorded the incident on her phone, in which you can hear the man yell out, "I don't want them near my country" as he's being kicked out of the store by an employee who also happened to be Muslim. All the credit in the world to these two women, who handled the encounter with incredible poise and humor as Nura responded with, "Too bad, we're here. Sucks for you."
Of course, it wouldn't be the internet without people spreading hate, and Nura and Ammari received plenty of it from anonymous Twitter users. But like the incident in the ice cream shop, the two women handled it with a class and dignity that made the haters look even more foolish.
