Friendswas one of the most successful TV shows of all time. It catapulted the careers of the six main actors into forever superstardom and continues to make them millions. Despite the fact that there are no longer new episodes of the show being made, there are still new things to learn about what the actors who starred in it said about the show itself.
Since the coffee shop all the friends hung out in became iconic, so did its workers. The lovable Guther got more than he bargained for when he'd have random moments written into the script for him.
"I love Lisa [Kudrow], but it was weird because her husband was there when we shot. He was standing there! But that was great. I just adore Lisa and think she’s a marvelous person and fantastic actor, so that was a really fun scene. I told her I’d brush my teeth right before the scene and have some gum or something." – James Michael Tyler (aka "Gunther")
It's no surprise Matthew Perry made an excellent Chandler Bing. He said that he channeled a lot of his own personality and mannerisms into his Friends character.
"I'm really similar to Chandler in that I'm most comfortable in a world that's kind of funny. If there's an awkward pause at all in a conversation, I'll fill it as fast as I can with a joke." – Matthew Perry
Ah, the love story that kept the show going for so many years. Even the actors who played the characters were invested in their character's future happiness (even though it didn't include their famous onscreen love).
"I want Ross to find another relationship away from Rachel. But it would be nice to come back to the relationship with her and then eventually marry. Will it happen? The writers can do almost anything they want." – David Schwimmer
Even though their time together is through and many of the storylines were wrapped up, some of the actors still had some surprising ideas about what the future could hold for their beloved characters.
"My fantasy is that Joey and Chandler finally get together. Ross and Phoebe take their kids and move to the country. Rachel and Monica start dating, fall in love and realize they've had it with men." – Courteney Cox
Even though it caused a hair frenzy, Jennifer Aniston was not crazy about her character's iconic choppy cut.
"How do I say this? I think it was the ugliest haircut I've ever seen. What I really want to know is, how did that thing have legs? Let's just say I'm not a fan of short, layered cuts on me personally, so I don't love revisiting that particular era.” – Jennifer Aniston
Some friends are truly better off as just friends. Luckily, Rachel and Joey's foray into a possible romantic encounter was extremely short-lived.
"It felt wildly inappropriate. Everybody got super-defensive about the whole thing. We went to David and Marta as a group and said, 'We're really concerned about this. It doesn't feel right. We have a problem with it.'" – Matt LeBlanc
