Not only was Friends a huge hit when it was on the air, it's still hugely popular today. However, there's still some things about the show that are a mystery. And one of those things involves this Season 4 DVD cover.
People all over Twitter chimed in with their own theories to explain the cover. For instance, could Rachel have been plotting to kill them all? Maybe that would allow her to finally keep her apartment as messy as she wants without having to deal with Monica.
Ross likes to consider himself to be the Friend with Unagi, or being in a state of total awareness. But Rachel and Phoebe prove that they're really the ones with Unagi, not him. But doesn't that mean Phoebe should be awake too?
Perhaps Rachel can't sleep because she's upset about nobody telling her life would be this way. Or maybe she's up because she can't get that theme song out of her head. She probably came close to falling asleep, but the "clap clap clap clap" would always wake her up.
This could be the best theory so far. Not only is Rachel awake, but she's also looking directly in the camera, so she's the only one aware it's there. But this raises another question, why are all the Friends sleeping together in the first place?
Does the whole Friends gang only exist inside of Rachel's imagination? Maybe it's some sort of (SPOILER ALERT) situation similar to that in Fight Club? Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt were married, so there could be something to this.
There was nothing wrong with the Rachel haircut when she first got it. But then things got weird when the entire country started copying her. Knowing that strangers are stealing your look would definitely make you lose some sleep.
This picture is from the episode where Rachel writes Ross a letter asking him to take full responsibility for their breakup. But Ross admitted to falling asleep while reading it, because it was 18 pages (front and back). Maybe the other Friends read the letter too?
Or as Chandler himself would say, "Could the answer BE more obvious?" (But just in case it's not obvious, this is referring to Nocturnal penile tumescence. We're sure Ross would appreciate that we're using the scientific term here.)
