The original Ninja Turtle arcade game began my and many others' love for beat `em ups, as well as our parents' woes at trying to find enough quarters to feed our habit while also having enough left over for laundry day.
The granddaddy of beat `em up games. This told the simple and age-old tale of having your girlfriend kidnapped and recruiting your palette swap brother to fight through hordes of bad guys to get her back.
There was nothing more satisfying than double-teaming a bunch of bad guys by forming a human tire with your wife. The fact that sentence makes sense in the context of this game proves how great it was, and that's not even including all the great Simpsons character cameos.
This classic Capcom video game featured characters such as Guy and Cody who would go on to be featured in Street Fighter games, but more importantly, it introduced the world to wrestler-turned-mayor Mike Haggar and his love for piledriving great white sharks.
The year was 1994, and Carnage was the hottest villain in Marvel comics. The Maximum Carnage storyline was a hit, and translated nicely to a video game. In it, you could play as everyone's favorite wall-crawler... and also as Spider-Man if you weren't quick enough in selecting Venom.
Most know the main character of this game from the Marvel vs. Capcom series. I'd highly recommend giving this game a whirl, as it featured a baby in a mech suit as a playable character that could jump into an even bigger mech suit to clean house. Do it.
Hey, want to grow more frustrated than you thought possible and hate your friends for accidentally killing you repeatedly? Well, this is the game for you, and only you, as I can see no other reason anyone would want to play this.
Hey, kids, did you enjoy the first Ninja Turtles arcade game? Well, how'd you like an updated, better version of it, featuring your favorite heroes surfing throughout history in their quest to save the Statue of Liberty? We thought so.
While super fun, this game featured possibly the most random assortment of heroes: Spider-Man, Hawkeye, Namor the Sub Mariner and Black Cat. Iceman and Firestar must've been heartbroken at being snubbed. Guess they weren't such Amazing Friends to Spidey after all.
This game was amazing, and a true treat for fans of the Avengers before the Avengers were so well known. Besides Cap and Iron Man, you could also play as the Vision and Hawkeye, pulling double duty between this and his adventures with Spider-Man.
In this game, humans and Predators joined forces to take on the Xenomorphs, who wreaked havoc and spawned unlimited numbers of aliens to slash, smash and laser blast through. Perfect for fans of 16-bit violence.
