We've grown up with Disney movies our entire lives. We love them, we know them, we quite often wish we could jump right into them.
While they often depict stories of hope and love, there are quite a few dark theories about our favorite Disney plot lines swirling around out there. Brace yourself; you might not be able to watch a Disney movie the same way again.
Here's a theory that'll make your heart ache: In the Toy Story franchise, Andy's mom is actually the original owner of Jessie.
In Toy Story 2, we find out that Jessie's previous owner was a little girl named Emily who grew up and grew out of playing with Jessie. It's absolutely heart wrenching. But what if that little girl grew up to be Andy's mom?
For one, they look quite similar. You can easily see that their hair is the same shade and basically the same style.
If this theory is true, it makes these movies all the more poignant. Who knew a franchise about toys that came to life could make us weep uncontrollably in the movie theater?! Oh, just me? Cool.
Here's a bit of a heady one:
The Incredibles is based on Atlas Shrugged, the novel by Ayn Rand.
There's plenty of parallels between the two: The Incredible family is forced to hide their extraordinary talents to blend in with society, which, according to Dorkly, is the exact thing Rand despises.
This one might be my favorite. Aladdin actually takes place in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. SAY WHAT?!
It would be pretty amazing if Aladdin was actually Disney's version of Mad Max. There has to be a reason the Genie is able to impersonate Jack Nicholson and make references to all things pop culture, right? It's because all these things existed way before Aladdin's story even starts. OK, this is insane, but let's just dream about it for a little.
This theory is pretty badass: Calhoun from Wreck It Ralph murdered her husband at the altar.
Pause. What?
We all know Calhoun's backstory. A Cy-Bug crashed her wedding, killing her husband. But we also know that Cy-Bugs take on whatever form they consume. So if a Cy-Bug ate her husband right before she killed it, Calhoun was actually killing an evil monster that looked just like her husband.
IT'S TOO DEPRESSING.
Are you ready to have your mind blown? Brace yourself for maybe the most insane theory yet, but the one that makes perhaps the most sense.
Frozen, Tangled, Tarzan and The Little Mermaid all take place within the same universe.
Our first clue into this idea? Rapunzel and Flynn Rider show up to Elsa and Anna's palace, as seen above.
The theory purports has it that Anna and Elsa's parents were on their way to Flynn and Rapunzel's wedding when their horrible shipwreck occurred. Apparently, if you were to map it out above, that would put them pretty close to Denmark.
The ship that they were on? Well, it's the same one at the bottom of the ocean that Ariel explores in The Little Mermaid. Pretty depressing, right?
But it doesn't stop there.
Anna and Elsa's parents didn't actually die! They washed ashore a deserted island, had a baby boy, then got swallowed up by a vicious jungle cat. That baby boy? He's Tarzan.
This might seem insane, but during a Reddit AMA, the directors of Frozen hinted at the universes being connected.
Even if it's all hogwash, it's pretty awesome to speculate about.
