Sansa finally escaped and went on the run with Petyr Baelish. He arranged another political marriage for Sansa, this time with Ramsay Bolton, the man who was at that time occupying her childhood home of Winterfell. This was another awful match, as Ramsay's father helped orchestrate the Red Wedding which left her mother and brother dead.
Reddit user ALL_STAR_87 posed an interesting theory for a potential powerful match. They suggested that Sansa would make a great pair with Dickon Tarley. Why would marrying Samwell's brother be beneficial?
They explain how this unlikely alliance could happen.
"Randyll (Dickon's father) is clearly the driving force behind the Lannister alliance, while young Dickon seems more concerned about turning his back on old ties.
If Randyll croaks and Dickon survives there's a chance we could see Tarly turn his back on the Lannisters, paving the way to potentially reconnect with brother Sam – who has the Tarly Heartsbane sword and just happens to be best mates with a Stark."
That would have been a nice alliance. It's logical, and Dickon was actually pretty cute. I say "was," because shortly after this theory was posed he wound up hella dead. This is the problem with theories on this show. You never know who'll bite it next.
So who should Sansa marry next? Honestly, we can all only hope it's someone she actually loves. She's been used as a pawn for the entire series. Now that she's in a position of power, it'd be nice to see her make the decision herself for want, not need.
Perhaps she'll wind up with her first husband. Tyrion was always kind to her after all. And after all they've been through, they may see they have much in common. Also, it would just be nice to see both of these tortured souls wind up with someone who could make them happy and understand them.
That said, the Stark sister wedding we're all most hyped to see is Arya and Gendry. Robert Baratheon's bastard son is back, and these old pals have a lot of catching up to do. I won't make this my official theory, though. I learned not to do that from poor Dickon.
