Look, I don’t care how "easy" and "efficient" technology has made this decade. I will always long for the good old '90s. There was so much about the '90s that was good and it’s not just me who thinks so because people are working hard to bring back a taste of the '90s in every way.
The special will be aired in 2018 and people are loving the comeback. This is not Nickelodeon’s first reboot. It seems the people at the network have a bad case of '90s nostalgia and we are not complaining!
The best part of Rocko's Modern Life is that the movie will be written and produced by the series’ original creator. Joe Murray is set to work on this movie. Moreover, the writer and executive producer will be joined by the original voice actors.
The returning cast members include the voice of Rocko, Spunky and Leon — Carlos Alazraqui. Tom Kenny, who voiced Heffer, Chuck, and Really Really Big Man. Mr. Lawrence (Filburt Turtle), Charlie Adler (Ed Bighead, Bev Bighead), Linda Wallem (Aunt Gretchen), Jill Talley (Nosey), and Joe Murray (Ralph).
The movie will continue where the cartoon left off. The animation will see the characters coming back home after being lost in space. The characters have been lost since 1996, the year the cartoon ended.
The press release has already given us hints about the movie. It seems that we’re not the only ones suffering from '90s nostalgia. Rocko, the press release states, “whole-heartedly believes that his nostalgia for the past can save him from the tortures of the modern world.”
What we’re going to get is a '90s character who is pandering to our emotions. Rocko misses the '90s as much as we do. It will be interesting to see a cartoon character longing for that same sweet nostalgia.
People are excited about the return of Rocko. One Facebook user wrote how this character, “had a great deal of influence on [her] as a child. Not many kid's shows will teach you about recycling and the potential evils of credit cards.”
Some, on the other hand, are skeptical about the reboot. “By extremely meta, I'm assuming just spouting memes and politics in a typical and very cringey manner.” Yeh, some people don’t want anything to happen to Rocko.
Others hope the reboot won’t, well, suck. “I don't know whether to be excited because Rocko was my favorite growing up, or disappointed because it's rare to find a good reboot. Although the Samurai Jack reboot was good there is still hope!!”
Overall, people are excited about the reboot. Hell, if it’s bad they can still watch the old series. I mean, we have access to everything now. Technically, we don’t even need to wait for the reboot to have a dose of Rocko.
