This is Kacie Hay and her friend Zack, both students at Penn State. Zack is a special education student, and he met Kacie through an academic program called Lifelink. And they're both involved in the same fitness walking course.
As it turns out, Zack is a big fan of Penn State's student athletes, and especially fond of football. On one of Zack and Kacie's walks, they saw defensive end Torrence Brown, so Zack stopped to say hi. The two wound up becoming friends.
Unfortunately, during a game in September, Brown suffered a major knee injury. It wasn't the kind of injury that he would be able to quickly bounce back from either. Brown, a redshirt junior, would miss the remainder of the season.
Zack felt pretty bad that his friend would be spending the fall healing and rehabbing rather than playing football. So he decided the best thing to do would be to present him with a get-well present. That present...a bag of cookies.
Then the tweet got even bigger after it was retweeted by Torrence Brown himself. "Made me feel a lot better," Brown said. The cookies won't magically heal Brown, but they certainly boosted his spirits.
Kacie and Torrence's tweets caused Zack's gift to go viral. In total, it got over 300,000 likes and over 80,000 retweets. And it also got plenty of replies, some of which were fairly low key like this one.
However, most of the responses to Zack's gift looked a bit more like this. Twitter appeared to be collectively overcome with emotions and crying their eyes out. (However, they were probably tears of joy, not the tears of sadness seen here.)
If there was a GIF of a celebrity crying somewhere on the internet, you could probably find it posted somewhere in response to Zack's cookie gift. And when you pull out the Oprah crying GIF, you know it's serious. Nobody would dare risk upsetting Oprah by using her GIF on something trivial.
Zack's gift moved many people to start sobbing...although hopefully not to this degree. This is why you should never read a heartwarming story while also hosting a national televsion show. You might just end up looking like this.
The story was so moving that it even brought a tear to Mr. T's eye. And if you weren't emotionally effected by this story at all, there's a good chance Mr. T thinks your a fool and pities you. Just call it a hunch.
However, not everyone was overcome with hours and hours of tears. For one person, Snoop Dogg referring to it as "the Cutest s*** I've ever seen" was enough to do the trick. And because it's Snoop, we'll allow it.
Zack's thoughtfulness spread across Twitter, inspiring thousands of people. If Zack's your friend, you know he's going to look after you and try to help you out in a tough situation. Without a doubt, the world could definitely use as many Zacks as possible.
