There's a marked difference between a photo shot by a photographer and one shot by the average person. While the average person will shoot what he's presented with, a professional photographer will focus on enhancing a shot by focusing on what makes the scene stand out. Don't believe me? Well, someone has placed the average person’s photos next to those of a professional photographer, so let’s see where the difference lies, shall we?
Well, a photographer would do things differently. For starters, the zoom feature would be used. The white would be decreased to remove the excess light of the sun. This way, this boy's face looks less blurry and more focused.
But now look at this. The kids are placed symmetrically with the bunny right in the center. The toddler must have been scolded like 13 times to sit still and this shot probably took an hour to get right. It's not something that necessarily comes naturally but you can work towards making the scene look like this.
But when the chicken's out… Well, now you have a shot. Wait for a second chicken to peak from its coop and you have the winning shot. It might take you an hour and turn the idea of a photoshoot into a nightmare for your kids but hey, you'll have your shot.
Don't waste your time on this spontaneous and genuine moment. Instead, make your kid pick up the bunny and keep the two sitting there till you have the shot. Exhausting? Oh yes, and you haven't even started editing the photos yet!
