From custom ads to suggestions, Google is our constant companion. We’ve all felt that the search engine sometimes knows us more than those around us. Creepy? Sure! But it’s convenient for it to know so much too.
The people at SEM Post were the first to notice the new feature. Now, some users are seeing videos playing on the right-hand side of the page. According to Sem Post, the trailers of Justice League and the Lego Ninjago Movie were played when they were searched.
People did further investigation of this new feature. It seems that for now, videos don’t autoplay when the search is done on a mobile phone. However, “Android Police discovered an autoplay setting in the Google app that suggests it may be coming to smartphones.”
The good thing about the feature is that no sound is heard when the video starts playing. This is a good thing. Can you imagine having to quickly lower the volume in embarrassment every time you search for something?
“We are constantly experimenting with ways to improve the search experience for our users, but have no plans to announce at this time.” They think this will be an improvement to our search experience but not everyone is on board. Just think of certain scenarios.
For one thing, this feature would make people read even less because there’s a video right there. How much lazier can we get? Also, what if the wording got twisted in the Google search and inappropriate videos start playing on the right-hand side of the page? I Googled "sexy buns" to get ideas on possible hairdos.
The things that came up in Google search were things I’ll never be able to forget.
