Deny it all you want, but you know that celebrity break ups will always pique your interest. Now, you can act like you’re not interested, then spend time browsing through Hollywood gossip sites in private. Or, you can rant about how heart-breaking the latest break up is with your co-workers when you’re supposed to be moving ahead with work deadlines. Up to you really.
The rumors surrounding the celebrity break up is amplified according to how big the celebrity’s status is. With someone like Amber Heard, a break up is going to make news. This is the same woman who married Johnny Depp, then chose to divorce him soon after and accused him of being violent.
Of course, the Depp/Heard relationship and divorce is way over. Heard soon moved on to another man named Elon Musk. He’s not a celebrity in Hollywood, but he has made a name for himself. For starters, this guy’s a billionaire. That’s with a B.
Now, Heard and Musk have called it quits just as summer had begun. Both Heard and Musk were going through divorces when they got together and some thought the strain of the divorces was too much for their relationship. Others thought Musk was working too much and the couple weren’t spending as much time together.
Over the past few weeks, the rumors about the two became overwhelming for them. So, the former couple decided to release a joint statement to clarify a few things. In doing so, they hoped to stop the crazy rumors once and for all.
The joint statement was given exclusively to People. It’s clear that the two were forced to explain themselves because of the rumors. The statement read: “Having read recent articles about our relationship, we would like to speak for ourselves.”
“The distance has been really tough on our relationship, because we haven’t been able to see each other much. All relationships have their ups and downs, of course.” Seems like a pretty normal reason to break up.
“People occasionally send out speculation, which has no basis in fact, without our knowledge, believing that that they have our best interests in mind.” By "people" they’re being nice. What they really mean is, "those who like making money out of selling fake rumors."
“Sometimes, other agendas are at work. It can get a little weird… However, we would like to state directly that we have the utmost respect for one another, and it would be troubling if anyone had the impression that we thought otherwise,” they added.
“As a closing note, it is worth bearing in mind that events are always amplified and dramatized in a high profile relationship, whether the people involved like it or not (and we definitely don’t). The reality is that this is just a normal relationship with a giant magnifying glass applied.”
And with that, the two proved that even a billionaire and his actress girlfriend can have a normal breakup. And here I thought that when you reach billionaire status, your robot butler helps you break up. Shame, it doesn’t seem worth becoming a billionaire.
But then, other celebrity couples have also spoken about how “normal” their day to day life is. Jenna Dewan Tatum said so when she was on Live with Kelly and Ryan. Also, in her Glamour interview, Blake Lively spoke about the fact that her and Ryan’s lives may look perfect but they aren’t, they’re simply normal.
