The 1998 Disney Channel film Halloweentown became a cult classic. The movie follows a girl named Marnie who helps supernatural creatures living in her town after discovering she's a witch. The film spawned several sequels.
There's even a giant jack-o'-lantern lighting ceremony. It's like a Christmas tree lighting, but way, way better. If the jack-o'-lantern looks familiar, it should. It's the same one that was used in the movie.
This year, Kimberly J. Brown, the actress who played Marnie, visited St. Helens to help the town kick off the festivities. She officiated the jack-o-lantern lighting ceremony like the boss witch she is.
“It's pretty amazing! I can't believe after all these years that people not only still talk about the movie but they still want to see it, want to watch it every year. It's incredibly flattering,” said Brown.
