This is probably the single most annoying thing that you can say to a vegetarian, and it also happens to be a huge myth. The average American actually eats too much protein, and even vegans and vegetarians can get more than enough in their diets without really trying.
Some great veggie protein sources include nuts, beans, lentils or tofu.
Uh, no they won’t? The reason there are so many farmed animals in the world at the moment is because we farm mass numbers of them specifically to be eaten. If we stopped farming them, then the populations would decrease.
6. 'You Just Think You're Better Than Everyone Else'
Umm, no. Everyone has different causes that they find important, and that’s great. There are probably things that you’re passionate about that I’m not, but you probably don’t think you’re better than me because of it, right?
Most of the time, the people who say stuff like this maybe had a bad experience with one vegetarian when they were 16. In reality, most of us just want some goddamn peace and quiet and to not have people saying “LOL EW” at our food every time we try to eat.
This question is annoying because it’s implying that veganism is “just a phase” or a temporary fad diet. While some might be vegan to lose weight, it’s also a principle that many of us live by, and that’s not something that most of us will just give up on a whim.
People who say stuff like this are usually just uneducated about how much stuff there is to eat as a vegan or vegetarian, so we can’t be too mad at them. There are veggie substitutes out there now for just about anything!
