Lipstick applicators, with their cute little cases and precise looking application tips, make it look so simple to have luscious-looking lips. The reality though is lipstick can be very rebellious and live without borders and just "bleed" out past the lip lines. That's why lipliner was invented...only applying that properly is even more of a struggle!
Trying to use lipliner correctly seems to be a sure path to insanity. There's not only the color problem: too light and it doesn't provide enough of an edge. Too dark and it provides way too much of one! It's a crazy tough challenge to apply lipliner as it has to perfectly rest on your natural lip lines. Then, as if that's not already enough torture, the lipliner line has to be blended into the edges of your lips softly while still keeping it on your lips, not spreading it to the rest of your face. The struggle is real!
The temptation to go too light in makeup colors is a serious struggle. It eliminates a clownish overdone look to be sure, yet the result can be totally unattractive, which of course defeats the whole point of wanting to wear makeup. It's usually a good idea to try medium shades of lipstick and eyeshadows rather than going to the extremes of too dark or too light. And, speaking of extremes, medium length mascara looks also often work better than trying to achieve eyelashes that will touch the ceiling.
The biggest struggle with applying makeup is that one tiny mistake can make the difference between a look that slays and one that fails. Case in point: unless you've gone to beauty school, who would know you need to use two different neutral colors of eyeliners?
The struggle between looking what you hope is edgy and what you're afraid will be too plain couldn't be more real. A good tip is that if you can't get out of the door quickly because of how long your makeup routine takes, you're probably doing too much of a good thing.
A common struggle when applying eyeliner is just running out of steam. The first eye is looking good, but it took so long to do and your hand is now too tired and not as steady as it was putting eyeliner on the first eye.
8. You Finally Get Your Makeup Right Then Forget You're Wearing It
We've all done it: rub our eyes, forgetting that we recently struggled with eyeshadow, liner and mascara to get our eyes looking amazing. After we forget and rub our eyes a little, all our makeup application efforts turn into a look suitable only for raccoons, pandas and The Joker in Batman.
It can be a struggle not to go too far with makeup. We run the risk of telling ourselves that the makeup application risk we took makes us look different and special. Of course in reality it's a little too different and a little too special.
