West studied music at Chicago State University. West soon found out that his music studies were getting the way of his music and dropped out of college. Hence the name of his first album, The College Dropout.
In a 2007 interview with The Sun, West revealed that he mayyyy have thought about going into porn after he dropped out of school. "That career choice popped into my head once or twice," he said. Which guy doesn't want that? Just sometimes in their life. That was my mentality before I was engaged."
After West dropped out of college, he worked a bunch of random jobs, including one as a telemarketer. Back in his more, er, humble days, West would wake up at four in the morning, then work on his music as soon as he was home from work.
The bear on the cover of Kanye's first three albums and in the music video for "Good Morning"is named Dropout Bear. He's West's mascot, and the animated version of Dropout is the logo for West's clothing line.
We all know about West's infamous interruption of Taylor Swift at the VMAs, but most people don't know that West did a little soul-searching afterward. West took six months off and traveled the world. He even lived in Hawaii for a little while.
