It seems that no matter how much work archaeologists and scientists have put into pyramids, these sites still pose a number of unanswered questions. Questions like, how did a civilization construct such complex sites without the use of advanced technology? How did the Egyptians construct such “seamless” architecture?
These complex ancient structures look like they were made with the help of magic. But we don’t believe in magic, do we? This is why many are wondering if ancient technology was used to build these structures.
Take the great pyramid as an example. This "Wonder of the World" is known as the largest pyramid in the world. Archaeologists have suggested that it required more than 20,000 people to build it. The latter had to move 2.3 million stone blocks which weighed between 2.5 to 15 tons apiece.
The task sounds daunting enough and archaeologists have suggested that workers used wooden ramps to carry out these large stone blocks. When some researchers did their calculations they found that if this whole theory were true, then workers would have had to set a stone block every 2 and a half minutes.
The shafts in The Great Pyramid are also a perplexing matter for scientists. Only this pyramid seems to have these shafts in its structure. Researchers have found that although these shafts don’t have a practical function, they are perfectly aligned with celestial bodies.
That is incredibly fast for a civilization that had no lifters and trucks to help. There are more things that don’t add up. Such as the Pyramid of Giza which has “the most intricate tunneling system the world has seen.” This pyramid has secret passages, chambers and a maze of hallways that have visitors in awe.
Besides the intricate tunneling, the Pyramid Of Giza holds another wonder in its structure that will make you think ancient Egyptians had some pretty advanced ancient technology. The structure holds eight sides of precision. The pyramid looks like it has four perfect sides, but when you move closer, you will notice a small change in degree for the casing stone to be held in place.
What’s mind boggling about these pyramids is their intricacy. People are wondering how could man have engineered such a maze without the help of technology? Were the Egyptians exceptionally bright or were they using ancient technology that vanished with time?
Researchers are also impressed by the accuracy and alignment of the pyramids. The Great Pyramid, for instance, is 0.15 degrees of the true north-south. The question here is how this ancient civilization was capable of structuring the Great Pyramid with such accuracy? Is this all a creepy coincidence?
For the professionals studying these ancient structures, such facts are awe inspiring. The knowledge that the Egyptians could structure would such accuracy has left historians, archaeologists and others to scratch their head. Another mind-boggling fact? The 500,000 tons of mortar of unknown origin.
Mortar is the material used to make the stone bricks to glue together. Researchers have identified mortar as being made mostly out of processed gypsum but what they cannot understand is where ancient mortar came from. This material has even “outlasted” some of the stones.
The 20-ton door is a puzzle in itself too. The door is intricately crafted in a way that it is entirely flush to the rest of the building, this way when it’s closed, it’s invisible to the unknown eye. The precise engineering and design are incredible.
Then there is the issue of the casing stones which were used to cover the exterior of the pyramids. Researchers have said that these stones were carried to the pyramid through the Nile River. Workers would then polish the limestone to perfection to make the stone “very shiny," creating a “smooth masterpiece” for the pyramid being covered.
It wouldn’t be a talk on pyramids without mentioning the tombs. Like Khufu’s coffin and his red granite sarcophagus which is enormous. The thing weighs 3.75 tons! It is said that the Egyptians built the structure of the pyramid around this piece of granite.
And for one last mind-boggling fact about the pyramids, there is the question of heat. One study conducted in 2015 has shown that the Great Pyramid “is generating three unexplainable sources of heat.” How did they do it?
